•What does a subscription to Repronews. com include?
Repronews.com is an online library, or database, of articles and reports about fakes and reproductions. It began in 1992 as the monthly printed newsletter, "Antique & Collectors Reproduction News". After over 12 years of producing the black and white printed edition, the full color online database was launched in December 2004. (click to view sample articles)
The online database includes past articles and reports plus new articles and reports on the latest fakes and reproductions as they are discovered. The datbase currently includes over 1,012 articles and reports with over 7,210 photos and illustrations. Additional research material is also included such as patents from various foreign countries and an extensive marks library (see the Quick Facts links on the left side of most pages).
All articles, going back to 1992 can be viewed by scrolling through an alphabetical list of titles in the A-Z Index (top of Home Page). All articles can also be searched by entering any terms or words in the search box (upper right hand corner, Home Page).

•What is the cost of a subscription, when does it begin?
The regular price of a subscription to Repronews.com is $27 for 12 months access. You can instantly view all files as soon as your credit card is approved (typically within minutes or seconds of sending your information). You will be automatically logged in the instant your credit card is approved.

•How do I find or select articles of interest to me?
The first step in selecting an article is to log in. After logging in, you may select articles in several ways. (Also see Can I view files on MY Computer?)
First: you can find articles of interest by using the Search box. The Search box is located at the top right hand corner of the Home Page. To use the Search feature, enter a word or phrase in the Search box and click the button labeled Search. The articles containing the word or phrase you entered will be displayed. All articles, from current going back to 1992, are searched. To open an article found as a result of a Search, click on the title. After clicking the title, a page will display "Your File is Ready to Download" with a button labeled "Open File". Click the button to open the article; the article will open automatically in Adobe Reader.
Second, you can find articles of interest by using the A to Z Index. The A to Z Index is a list of articles alphabetized by title. To open an article displayed in the A to Z Index, click on the title. After clicking the title, a page will display "Your File is Ready to Download" with a button labeled "Open File". Click the button to open the article; the article will open automatically in Adobe Reader.

Can I view articles on MY computer?
All Repronews article are Adobe PDF files. These files require Adobe Reader, the free software that lets you view PDF files. Most computers have Adobe Reader preloaded at the time of sale.
Is Adobe Reader installed on your computer? You can confirm Adobe Reader is installed on your computer by opening a sample article. You do not have to log in or be a subscriber to view a sample article. You need Adobe Reader version 5.0 or higher to view Repronews.com files.
If Adobe Reader is not installed, you can download it free from the Adobe web site.
Unlike most internet files which cannot be enlarged, PDF articles at Repronews.com can be increased up to 400% of the opening screen size. You the user has complete control over the size of photos and text you see on your screen.
Adobe Reader has an online help section in the top menu bar that opens with every article. Use the Zoom tool to increase/decrease image and text sizes; jump from page to page; select the entire article or select only specific pages to print.
Like any other web browsing, the speed at which articles will display depends on your internet connection, amount of memory (RAM), and the speed of your processor. It is the sole responsibility of the subscriber to determine the suitability of their hardware and whether they have the appropriate version of Adobe Reader installed. Repronews.com does not provide technical support for Adobe Reader or for your computer hardware. Please view sample articles before placing an order.

•Can I print the articles?
Yes, subscribers may print articles for personal use on standard home-quality or office-quality computer printers. Color photos and illustrations you see in the online articles will print in color if you have a color printer. Color photos and illustrations you see online will print in black and white if you have a non-color printer. You can test the quality of the image your printer will make by printing one of the sample articles. You do not have to be subscriber to view and test-print a sample article.

•Where do you find/gather your information?
Articles are researched and prepared by repronews.com staff in consultation with leading collectors, dealers, collectors clubs and institutions. Most fakes and reproductions are first detected by dealers and collectors who specialize in specific categories. They alert repronews.com to the problem and help prepare the articles explaining how to separate new from old.
